THIRD FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME FOR R&TD
EUROPEAN COMMISSION’S PROGRAMME OF APPLICATIONS OF TELEMATICS IN TRANSPORT – ATT, (DRIVE II), DG XIII
Duration: 1993-1995
Scientific Responsible: Prof. Maria Giaoutzi (E-mail: giaoutsi@central.ntua.gr)
The Project Objectives
The prime objective of BATT is to evaluate the changes in travel behaviour resulting from the introduction of Advanced Transport Telematics (ATT). Since relatively limited analysis has been undertaken on the market potential of ATT and user responses to ATT. BATT aims to address these two issues through the identification and analysis of travel behaviour. Measurements are to be based on user responses during several pilot projects, focusing on all areas of operational interest and also covering manufacturers’ possibilities in terms of the design and promotion of ATT products.
In searching for appropriate methods to be adopted in this research, a nested approach was developed to tackle specific problems concerned with the types of change being measured. This allows the estimation of the impacts of ATT at three separate levels, namely the strategic level, the market potential level and the market response level.
