Integrated Development Plan for the Kastelli -Heraklion-Crete Region

Duration: 2008-2010

Scientific Responsible: Prof. Maria Giaoutzi

The Project Objectives

The project focus is on the development of a Strategic Integrated Development Plan (SDIP), as a DSS tool, for the municipality of Kastelli, which will enable the assessment of the impacts of alternative development perspectives, of the region.
The SIDP for the Kastelli region will be used as a decision support tool for policy making, but also as a tool for raising funds from both the EU and national authorities.
The SIDP will greatly facilitate the developments in the area (location of the airport, etc.), which will have considerable impacts on a whole range of activities, but also on the quality of life and social cohesion in the area.
