Short CV - Publications

Lois Labrianidis is Professor in the Department of Economic Sciences, University of Macedonia Greece; as well as founder and head of the Regional Development and Planning Research Unit (RDPRU). He is an architect (AUTH 1977), an economic geographer (MA -Sussex, Ph.D. -LSE) and has done research and published on topics such as industrial location, the spatial aspects of subcontracting, the economic implications of peripheral universities on their locality, rural entrepreneurship, foreign direct investment, economic consequences of immigration.
His scholarly publications include several journal papers and nine books: (1992) The spatial aspects of subcontracting relations in manufacturing production. Paratiritis (in Greek); (1993) Provincial universities in Greece Paratiritis (in Greek); (2001) Albanian immigrants in Thessaloniki (co-authored), Paratiritis (in Greek); (2001) Economic geography, Patakis (in Greek); (2004) (editor) The future of Europe’s Rural Periphery, Ashgate; (2005) Entrepreneurship in the European countryside, Patakis (in Greek); (2008) (editor) The Moving Frontier: The Changing Geography of Production in Labour Intensive Industries, Ashgate; (2008) (co-editor) Cities on the Verge: Thessaloniki in a Process of Change, Kritiki (in Greek). (2011) Investing in leaving: The Greek case of international migration of professionals Kritiki (in Greek).
He was Guest Editor in two special issues of European Planning Studies and of Regional Studies. He is Editor of the journal European Urban and Regional Studies, He was member of the Editorial Board in two Greek journals Topos (Review of Spatial Development and Environment) and University. He is member of the advisors to the Editors of Geografies. He was Αssociate/Corresponding Εditor to Capital and Class.
